Fire safety is a shared responsibility. Guards and housekeeping staff are often the first on the scene, so awareness matters.
Know the layout
Staff should be able to locate exits, assembly points, extinguishers and alarm points without thinking.
Keep routes clear
Blocked staircases and locked exits are among the most common and avoidable problems.
Learn the first steps
- Raise the alarm
- Inform the control room or supervisor
- Help people move to the assembly point
- Use an extinguisher only if it is safe to do so
Practise
Regular drills help everyone act calmly. Review what worked and what did not.
